What was your experience like in 2014?
The 2014 Open was my first official week of Crossfit – 14.1 was my first Crossfit Hoboken class workout, I finished my last fundamentals class the week before! I had whip marks all over my legs from double-under attempts and these were my first snatches using an actual barbell and not a PVC pipe. It was ugly but I was hooked, mostly out of mere frustration at that point, but never-the-less, HOOKED!

What are your expectations for this year’s open?
I’ve identified some strengths and weaknesses within the past year – getting comfortable with some movements, while still sorting out my frustrations with many others. There’s so much to work on, I still consider myself pretty raw in terms of technique. The Open is fun and competitive – two terms I can relate to. This year’s approach won’t be any different from my training mindset, get shit done, learn something and have fun doing it with incredibly awesome people!

What was your experience like in 2014? I joined Hoboken around July and was really interested in taking advantage of Olympic lifting classes with Ryan. After a shoulder injury that kept me out of certain workouts, I learned that correct form should be the number one focus over everything else. I’ve also tried to focus on increasing strength for Olympic lifting and have seen some real progress and hope to continue in the right direction.

What are your expectations for this year’s open? My expectations are to perform to the best of my ability and push myself past what I think my limits are.

What was your experience like in 2014?
Since joining Crossfit Hoboken in October 2014, my experience has been extremely eye opening and inspiring. The dedication and support from the coaches and other athletes have pushed me to succeed and continuously improve. After my athletic career in college ended, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to find the same competitive environment, but Crossfit has since provided that for me.

What are your expectations for this year’s open?
I’m excited to compete in my first open and cheer on other athletes in the gym. I have only heard amazing things from other members and am pumped for 15.1. I think it is great that there is a scaled division this year, providing the option to compete in scaled or Rx’d. Whether I compete in the scaled or Rx’d division, I am going into each WOD with a clear mind, and when I hear “3-2-1” giving it everything I’ve got.
