What was your experience like in 2014?

It was an eye opener to the movements I really needed to work on. Not only that, but the efficiency of each movement. That meant going back to the drawing boards and really focusing on technique. With heavier weight and an overall increase in movement requirements, I knew I had to find a program that would help me work on all aspects of my fitness level.

What are your expectations for this year’s open?

This will be my third open, and I expect it to be more demanding that the previous years. We have been working hard this year to get ready so I am excited to give it everything I have. At the end of the day, just looking to have some fun with it and enjoy the camaraderie inside the gym.

What was your experience like in 2014?
The Open last year was an empowering and humbling opportunity… it was a community builder in the box. Saturdays we were packed in there for hours to cheer each other on, help coach and strategize as our coaches were the judges.

What are your expectations for this year’s open?
This year’s open for me is a little different. Last year I was a small margin away from regionals as an individual and even smaller margin with the team I was on. As my first Open fueled serious hope and potential as a competitor I worked my tail off to prepare for this season. Sadly in October though I was diagnosed with cancer and have been battling ever since then to simply have the health to get out of bed to WOD as often as I can. Losing most of my strength from treatment, requiring double the recovery efforts, and preplanning my cancer treatments to be able to get my best scores for this years open I’m hoping to show up each week and give it all I’ve got!
