HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT CROSSFIT? My boyfriend and his army buddies had been doing workouts off CrossFit.com for a while, and I had heard of a box that was nearby so I went to check it out!

WHAT WERE YOUR GOALS WHEN YOU STARTED CROSSFIT? Probably to lose weight and get “toned” haha.

HOW HAS CROSSFIT DIFFERED FROM YOUR FORMER TRAINING? It’s totally different! I spent a long time bouncing around to different types of training: running/hiking, lots of cardio in the gym with a few sit-ups thrown in at the end, hot yoga, Zumba, exercises with light weight for a million reps…but I always felt a little bored. By the time I had completed my first fundamentals class I was in LOVE. I’m sure my bf got so sick of me coming home every time telling him IN DETAIL each movement I had learned, but I couldn’t help it! I was excited to learn new skills and to see what my body was capable of.

WHAT TYPE OF RESULTS HAVE YOU SEEN WITH CROSSFIT? I found a better version of myself. I am stronger, faster, and more badass! I also learned to love my muscular body type instead of wanting to conform to some other stereotype of “attractive”.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR EXPERIENCE AT CROSSFIT HOBOKEN? Awesome! The energy is so positive and everyone has been really welcoming and friendly.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ACCOMPLISH IN THE NEXT YEAR IN YOUR OWN FITNESS? I have been dealing with an injury for the past few months, so my number one goal is to get healthy and back to 100%!!

WHEN DID YOU START EATING PALEO? I did my first paleo challenge summer 2013…I haven’t been totally strict since then, but I try!!

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY OF FOOD LOOK LIKE YOUR YOU? Usually some type of eggs/sausage/bacon/veggies combo in the morning…and definitely coffee(black)! Most of the time lunch is leftovers from dinner the night before…maybe steak with salad and sweet potato fries. I snack on fruit, nuts, hardboiled eggs, tuna…and I have an obsession with avocado. I eat it on EVERYTHING. I also take Progenex Recovery after I work out, which isn’t paleo but it works great for me.

HOW DID PALEO ACCELERATE YOUR WEIGHT LOSS? I feel like I didn’t so much lose weight as lose inches and my clothes fit better.

HAVE YOU FOUND IT HARD TO ADHERE TO PALEO DIET? I find it really hard when I don’t put the time into prepping food for myself. I’m all about easy, and I’m not somebody who can cook three meals a day from scratch. I try to always cook enough so I have leftovers, and even pre-washing and cutting up veggies and fruit so they are ready to go helps me a lot.

OTHER THAN PALEO WHAT OTHER DIET TOOLS HAVE YOU USED? I have used an online food diary, but I felt like it focused too much on just total calories and not the quality of what I was putting in my body. I also found it hard to be consistent with logging my meals.

WHAT IS THE HARDEST PART OF GOING PALEO? I have a crazy sweet tooth! Especially for chocolate. Sadly, I am not one of those fortunate people who can have a teeny square of dark chocolate and be good. Maybe someday!

DO YOU PLAN TO CONTINUE WITH THIS WAY OF EATING PERMANENTLY? Yes! But I try to maintain an 80/20 approach…if I’m super strict all the time I get burnt out.
